Controller
A leading technology company headquartered in Austin, TX is seeking a Controller to direct and oversee financial activities of the Company including the preparation of all financial reporting, transactional accounting, annual audit, and system implementation. They will assume a role as a partner to the CFO, Accounting and Operations teams as well as the senior management. The ideal candidate will be experienced and agile with a thirst for learning. They’ll possess a balance of superior technical, operational and leadership skills while, at the same time, be comfortable communicating with any audience. A proven collaborator, they will be able to fit in with a very entrepreneurial environment that is fast-paced, dynamic and results-oriented.
Responsibilities
• Manage cashflow, receivables and ensure books are closed on-time without error
• Ensure financial accuracy of all records/reports/documentation
• Make certain that financial activities are in conformity with GAAP, legal regulations, corporate policies and contracts
• Oversee compliance, including taxes, filings, licenses, legal requirements and testing
• Facilitate and lead communication between the Finance department and other departments to promote financial insight and encourage awareness
• Maintain and continuously improve the dashboards that the Finance department produces to promote accountability and availability for the organization and investors
• Efficiently coordinate and complete the monthly reconciliation and close processes which includes ensuring results are delivered on-time and accurately to the CFO, Sr. Management and Investors
• Requirements
• 8+ years of financial experience with at least 2 years of recent relevant Controller, Finance Director or Assistant Controller experience
• Bachelor’s degree at minimum, CPA a plus
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company where adaptability is imperative
• Directly supervised and made significant process improvements to the monthly close process
• Complex Financial Knowledge with regards to how an organization
would capitalize in-process R&D costs
• Direct experience with enterprise software applications (e.g., Oracle or SAP) and participation in strategic decisions around systems implementation and improvements
• Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging trends and relevant legislation that impacts accounting and financial reporting
• Ability to interact with executives and across all functional areas
• Ability to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and written, willingness to appropriately debate difficult issues; ability to think quickly and present to an audience
• Self-motivated, innovative, and ability to initiate and lead change
• Highest professional standards and personal and professional integrity
• Experience in a SaaS environment with complex revenue recognition processes
