Seeking Marketing and PR Interns to Launch a New Book About Gen Y

Golden Ladder Productions seeks two enthusiastic interns with outstanding communication skills to assist our team in launching a new business book, Y-Size Your Business: How Gen Y Employees Can Save You Money and Grow Your Business. Your goal will be to market this innovative business book directly to executives at Fortune 1000 companies and gain publicity from diverse media outlets. The book’s author has already appeared on 60 Minutes, 20/20, The Today Show, The View, and in Fortune magazine. His corporate clients include well-known companies such as McDonald’s, General Dynamics, and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

This internship program is entirely hands-on involving all aspects of marketing and PR: national telephone outreach, targeted e-mails, press releases, social media, networking, etc. Our fast-paced entrepreneurial environment values your perspective and fresh ideas. Be prepared to utilize and develop specific skills that will launch the book in an innovative and effective manner. Given the learning and resources involved, the internship can be taken for college credit (pending your college’s approval) or for professional experience. Due to the visibility and timing of the book’s release, please be available a minimum of three days per week.

Interns are expected to:
– Construct and maintain media lists
– Write first draft publicity pitches and press releases
– Initiate media contact and follow-up
– Assemble and maintain marketing lists
– Create and refine marketing resources
– Directly market Y-Size to potential corporate clients
– Contribute new ideas for marketing and PR
– Offer support to our team as needed
– Assist in the author’s Austin book signing and national release party

Our ideal intern:
– College student, recent graduate, or someone enthusiastic about marketing and PR
– Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Advertising majors preferred
– Has a passion for sharing innovative business ideas and sparking conversation
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web navigation
– Has conversational knowledge about current events and common business terms
– Exceptional written and phone skills—writing examples required, expect to role play phone calls
– Strong time management skills and well organized
– Solves problems on the fly while working under pressure to meet deadlines
– Social media experience is a plus
– Works well in an entrepreneurial, team environment
