THIS IS A CONTRACT FULL-TIME PROJECT BASED POSITION

This position leads, coordinates and implements the design efforts for Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Work independently under the supervision of the Marketing Manager in cooperation with IT programmers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead interactive design efforts for Capital Metro, including web, IVR and other electronic communications.
• Work with staff IT programmers to implement the wireframe, GUI and functionality of the Capital Metro website.
• Assist in the development of project documents, timelines and goals that will lead to the successful launch of the new website in FY 2010.
• Oversee the development of high quality detailed UI specifications for complex projects, including flow diagrams, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, prototypes and final documentation.
• Work with visual designers to improve and refine visual design and consistency.
• Present design work to the marketing department, leadership teams and executives for review and feedback.
• Translate research findings and customer feedback into design improvements.
• Work with marketing and contractors to design test plans and iterate designs throughout user testing.
• Ensure electronic customer touch points become and remain consistent.
• Remain current on the competitive landscape in order to make recommendations as to the ways to enhance Capital Metro’s position within the marketplace.
• Proactively communicate status and updates to relevant stakeholders throughout UI process.
• Identify emerging best practices within ID, stay current on design software, web and usability standards.
• Assist in the development of mobile applications for capmetro.org
• Ensure integration of Capital Metro brand excellence and voice through all electronic communications.
• Work with the IVR team in its system redesign to ensure scripting is relative to the users web experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience can be substituted on a year for year basis up to four years.
• Six (6) years of interactive design/information architecture experience as a key member of a user experience team through the product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web, mobile, kiosk or desktop applications.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Advanced understanding of Information Architecture and User-Centered Design.
• Strong understanding of how typography, layout, color, images, interactivity, and motion impact design.
• Experience working with cross functional teams within large, complex, corporate environment.
• Experience designing for multiple customer segments across several product lines.
• Advanced understanding of capabilities of HTML, CSS, Flash, and other web technologies is required; hands on experience is preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate design ideas and respond quickly to business needs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
• Extremely detail oriented, flexible to change and self-motivated.
• High production values/strong quality assurance.

SALARY: $ 66,818.00 – 83,522.00
