User Experience Designer

The Role: User Experience Designer
Location: Austin, TX

As the User Experience Designer for our client, you will utilize your solid track record in defining clean and usable application interfaces to drive a complete redesign of the management interface for our e-learning system.

The Product UX/Designer will be responsible for defining the look and feel as well as the usability of the e-learning system. Understanding customer needs and using that knowledge to identify areas for improvement is critical. The challenges of evolving a highly complex existing product rather than building a new one from scratch should be appealing to you, rather than a source of frustration.

Responsibilities:

• Define the UX and recommend designs for the our e-learning system

• Translate business requirements into highly usable software requirements and interfaces with a particular focus on user experience

• Communicate with and work in an integrated Product and Engineering team to define experiential goals/requirements and then design, validate, and document compelling and innovative user experiences

• Work closely with Development and Test teams to ensure that application and UI implementations meet experiential goals

• Serve as the chief user advocate within project teams and is responsible for promoting user needs, preferences, and behaviors through qualitative and quantitative research and analysis

• Define process changes related to integration of user experience activities into the development lifecycle

• Produce conceptual models, personas, workflows, requirements specification, design prototypes, design specifications, and information and navigation architecture

• Suggest product and technical alternatives and make recommendations to internal customers about the most effective and efficient usability approaches

• Develop software estimates associated with UI implementation

Requirements:

•Must have a strong portfolio of past work assignments available

•5+ years experience in defining UX for web-based high volume applications

•BA/BS or advanced degree preferred in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field or demonstrated comparable experience designing commercial software products

•Demonstrated current experience with designing B2B and B2C web-based products or web sites

•In depth knowledge of User Interface Design principles, Human Factors, User-Centered Design Processes, Interaction Design guidelines, Usability Testing Methodologies, web-industry standards and trends, platform standards, software development process, and prototyping/design

•Ability to translate audience, technology and other key product requirements into effective UI design solutions

•Experience designing prototypes and writing design documents to effectively communicate functional behavior to stakeholders

•Experience influencing product development teams to implement customer-centric solutions

•Experience creating, running and analyzing user-centered test regiments and incorporating these activities and resulting data into overall UX design processes

•Proficient using graphic imaging and design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, MS Visio, MS Visual Design Studio, etc

•Innovative, creative problem solver with an eye for detail and accuracy

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Ability to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team

•Knowledge in good execution of Ajax
